As with many magnetic questions, the answer depends on the setup. In some cases steel performs better, while in others MuMETAL does. It’s complicated. We talked about this topic in a general way in our very first blog article, Shielding Materials.

LUM Ultrafine Vertical Roller Mills are used for pulverizing minerals, such as quartz, feldspar, calcite, talcum, barite, fluorite, copper ore quartz, zircon sand, fly ash and coal, etc.

MuMETAL® is a trade name. It’s a registered trademark that one particular company, Magnetic Shield Corporation, uses for their popular shielding material. In fact, the MuMETAL we used in this article came from Magnetic Shield Corporation.

No steel grinding media is used in a fully autogenous mill. When choosing primary autogenous grinding, run of mine ore up to 200-300 mm in size is fed to the mill. When using a crushing step before the grinding, the crusher setting should be 150-200 mm. The feed trunnion opening must be large enough to avoid plugging. The biggest pieces in the mill are important for the size reduction of middle size pieces, which in their turn are important for the finer grinding. Thus the tendency of the material to be reduced in size by pressure, impact, and abrasion is a very important question when primary autogenous grinding is proposed.

Raw material is firstly broken by jaw crusher into required particle size, which are carried by bucket elevator up to the storage hopper. The vibration feeder then conveys the crushed materials at a fixed rate into the grinding chamber of the main unit for pulverizing. The three rollers hung upon the spider-arm are running around the shaft. With the centrifugal force, the four rotational rollers will go around the ring tightly. The raw materials is put up between the rollers and rings by the blade to make the raw materials into powder. The grinded materials is blown up to the classifier, through which the powder is separated by the airflow. Coarse particles fall back down to the mill for regrinding. The needed particles will go into the collector where products will be removed through the discharge opening. The purified air flows to the air blower through the pipe above big cyclone collector. Air flue is circular type. Air stream in all pipelines is negative pressure except for that in the air blower and grinding chamber, which improved the working condition in the workshop. Wind volume in air flue increases as the moisture in material changes into vapour leaking in from the flange conjunctions and feed opening. Added air volume is transporting through the air blower and after-wind pipe, to simple collector. The end powder enters the collector with air stream and discharged from discharge valve.

Bauxite ore is available from the market as lumps with 54 - 58% Alumina as Al . in to a open circuit ball mill to grind it to 90% passing through 100 mesh size.

Ceramic grinding balls are high purity (90 - 95%) spherical alumina compounds, with up to 3% zircon, manufactured using isostatic pressure methods. This allows them to have high resistance to wear and tolerance to high temperatures.

Certain design and performance factors are important to understand as you begin the process of selecting a grain mill. The overview below will provide helpful perspective on different mill designs and their suitability to achieve your aims. Our product pages provide the most detailed information on individual mills, but it’s helpful to understand the forest a bit before you start studying the trees.

If you will be using the mill frequently, then it will be important to choose quality construction that will hold up to the test of usage and time. Many of the cheaper hand grain mills have reviews that indicate problems of one variety or another after a relatively short time.

Magnetic plaster is the latest innovation in interior design, providing ultimate flexibility to create interactive spaces at home or in the office. It’s perfect for creating a picture gallery without using pins or nails or for organising the home office without the confines of a noticeboard. On a grander scale it can help teams of designers and architects collaborate and present their work to their colleagues and clients. Magnetic plaster should be applied in the same way as regular plaster at least 3mm thick. Once set, it provides a surface that magnets will attract to, just like steel. The ideal magnets to use depends on what you want to hang on your magnetic wall. If you are looking for technical data such as performance and application and installation instructions, please download the product data sheet. Each bag contains application instructions on the reverse.

media were not cost effective and didnt meet our costumers expectations. Therefore, to answer those specific needs, we developed a new brand of grinding media Ecomax174; CAST a low chromium (Lo Cr) cast steel ball. If you are not sure what media do you need just give us a call and we will give you a free consultation and make sure that you have all information you need.

There are a number of other high-nickel content alloys that are great for magnetic shielding that are not MuMETAL. If you look closely, you’ll notice that other companies selling such products will not call it MuMetal, because that would be a trademark violation. They’ll call it something else, like high-nickel magnetic alloy.

Hematite Novelties: Products called "magnetic hematite" and "iridescent hematite" are often offered for sale in gift, tourist, novelty, and science shops and their websites. Most of the time these materials are not hematite but are man-made materials that do not even have the same chemical composition as hematite. Buy them if you like them but not because you think that you are getting a unique mineral specimen.
