The best stool samples to get are those that are fresh - straight out of the animal
within the last 30 minutes where possible. Attempting to perform a fecal float on a
stool sample that is several days old is likely to be unhelpful because most of
the eggs, worm larvae and protozoan oocysts will have altered in appearance
to the point of being unrecognizable. Some worm eggs hatch within hours of defecation
and, consequently, will not be visible in the fecal float, resulting in a false negative

feces in order for a fecal float to be performed - faecal floats can be performed on the most
